Dental Care for all Ages from the Family Dentist Torrance Trusts
August 10, 2015
Have you ever heard the saying, “You only need to take care of the teeth you want to keep?” Well, presuming you want to keep all of your teeth, then you need to take proper care of each and every one. And equally important, your teeth need attention throughout every stage of life, from childhood, through adulthood and on into the senior years. At Blue Coast Dental Group, Dr. Sanaz Hamzehpour and her staff of dental hygienists and dental assistants are dedicated to helping you and all the members of your family—no matter what their ages—benefit from a lifetime of excellent oral health.
The Children’s Dentist Torrance Kids Love
At what age should good oral health care begin? Believe it or not, the answer is when your baby’s first tooth appears. Of course, dental care is quite simple at this stage. All you need to do is gently wipe your baby’s teeth and gums with a dampened cloth after feeding. As more teeth appear, you can begin brushing their teeth with a small, soft toothbrush. Initially, you don’t even need to use toothpaste. Once they’re used to brushing, you can add a small amount of a fluoride toothpaste. Around the age of two or three, you should begin bringing them to Blue Coast Dental Group for checkups. Children are susceptible to the same oral health problems as mommy and daddy; sometimes even more so, because good brushing and flossing aren’t easy for little ones. When their permanent molars come in, Dr. Hamzehpour may recommend dental sealants to protect their teeth against the bacteria that causes cavities.
The Dental Checkup Torrance Needs through the Years
At any age the cornerstone of good oral health is the dental checkup. At these twice yearly appointments, we not only clean your teeth, we are also on the lookout for oral and dental health problems. We check for signs of tooth decay and gum disease, we routinely conduct a screening for oral cancer and we monitor any changes in your oral health. This is done not only to ensure you have a healthy mouth, but a healthy body, too. Strong evidence points to a link between oral health, especially gum health, and certain bodily health concerns including high blood pressure, heart disease and diabetes.
If and when problems develop, Blue Coast Dental Group has the restorative treatment to renew your smile. For cavities at any age, we offer discreet care with tooth-colored fillings. As some of our patients age, they may need additional treatments including root canal therapy, porcelain crowns, dentures and partials, dental implants and crowns and bridges. All of these treatments are provided in the convenience of our office.
