Take Advantage of a New Special for Invisalign in Torrance!
September 20, 2018
Invisalign allows more people than ever to straighten teeth without the hassle of metal hardware associated with traditional braces. That means no additional practice or preparation for cleaning your hardware, changing your diet, or worrying about taking photos with friends and family with a mouth full of metal.
To celebrate their incredible convenience and effectiveness, the dentist at Blue Coast Dental is offering Invisalign in Torrance at a discounted rate of $169 per month through CareCredit! With that being said, let’s discuss how you can make your aligners last after you begin treatment!
The Best Way to Clean Aligners
Keeping your aligners clean is a must if you want to avoid bad breath and dental plaque buildup. To do this, use Invisalign’s own blend of cleaning crystals specifically provided by the dentist or online. Of course, keeping them clean isn’t exclusively for loosening plaque. It’s also intended to keep them as clear as possible, which is very important if you want to take advantage of their transparent characteristics.
If you happen to be low on cleaning crystals, Invisalign also recommends using a traditional toothpaste and toothbrush. Just make sure that the toothbrush is soft-bristled and that the toothpaste doesn’t contain any abrasives, as they can both scratch the aligners and allow food and plaque to collect more easily. You can also use a denture cleanser, which works to sanitize aligners quite well.
Watch Out for Food Stuck on Teeth!
Keep in mind that just because you remove your aligners during a meal doesn’t mean they can’t still get stained when you go to wear them after. If you just finished eating a meal with many staining foods or finished drinking a richly-pigmentated beverage, you’ll need to brush your teeth afterwards to avoid staining your aligners. A few examples include:
- Pasta
- Barbecue sauce
- Dark berries or juices
- Coffee
- Dark teas
Keep Your Aligners Sanitized
Your aligners should always be sanitized before placing them back into your mouth. The worst thing you can do is introduce foreign bacteria to your mouth’s ecosystem, so always take the time to sanitize, brush or at the very least rinse them before wearing. When rinsing or soaking, make sure the water is not hot as this can permanently warp the aligners and make them unusable.
When to Contact Your Dentist
In the event that you lose or break an aligner, it’s very important that you contact your dentist as soon as possible. They’ll work with you to make sure your Invisalign treatment stays on track by recommending that you either move on to the next pair, move back to a previous pair or come in to have your current pair replaced. Remember, clear aligners are considered a prescription item, meaning only the dentist can provide them.
