Are you missing teeth? One of the great things about living in today’s world is the fact that you don’t need to settle for missing teeth. Gaps in your smile can be a thing of the past. There are a few different options out there to replace your missing teeth, like dentures. This tooth replacement option can be lifechanging for people who are missing most of or all of their teeth. While they have become quite durable over the years, they are not indestructible. They need to be replaced over time. Here are some signs that you may need to take them to your dentist to be evaluated.

Your Dentures Are Becoming Loose

Dentures should not be moving around or falling out of your mouth. If they are, this means that they probably aren’t fitting as they should. They should be staying in place when you chew and speak. If you notice that your dentures have become loose, this means that they aren’t as snug to the gums as they should be. While you can use over-the-counter denture adhesives to help, this is not a permanent solution. You will need to see your dentist in order to have your dentures either relined or replaced.

Speaking Is More Challenging

If your dentures aren’t fitting correctly, this can make it more challenging for you to speak. If you find that you are slurring your words or mumbling more often, your dentures could be the reason. Communication shouldn’t be an issue. Talk to your dentist so you can have them adjusted or replaced.

Your Dentures Are Causing You Discomfort

It takes some time to get used to wearing dentures, but they shouldn’t be causing you any pain or discomfort. This could simply be a sign that they are damaged or aren’t fitting correctly. If you develop sores or lesions, or you have noticed any changes in your gum health, you should schedule an appointment with your dentist right away. This way, you can get to the bottom of the issue.

Your Dentures Are Damaged

As strong as dentures are, they are not indestructible. If you find any cracks, chips, loose teeth, or missing teeth, contact your dentist. You could have accidently damaged them, or they could just be getting old. Your dentist will be able to determine whether they are repairable or if you’ll need a new set.

Your Dentures Are Discolored

Staining can be avoided when you care for your implants properly, but it can still happen over time. If this is something that has been bothering you, it is completely a legitimate reason to want to have them replaced. Express any concerns you have with your dentist.

If you’re dealing with any of the issues above in relation to your dentures, you shouldn’t be settling for them. Talk to your dentist about possible solutions. This way, you can show off a smile that makes you feel both comfortable and confident!
